Template Approval Tips#
Getting your templates approved by Meta doesn't have to be trial and error. Here's what actually matters.
Follow the content rules. Meta rejects templates that contain misleading claims, threats of account suspension (even if true), or anything that pressures the user to act immediately with fear-based language. Urgency is fine. Fear is not.
Always include an opt-out. Every marketing template must give recipients a way to stop receiving messages. "Reply STOP to opt out" at the bottom is the simplest approach. Without it, your template gets rejected.
Keep it under 1024 characters. This is Meta's hard limit for template body text. The templates above are all within this limit, but if you customize them heavily, double-check the character count.
Avoid URL shorteners in review. Submit the full URL (or a placeholder like https://yourstore.com/sale). URL shorteners like bit.ly can trigger automatic rejection because they obscure the destination.
Match the category. Meta categorizes templates as Marketing, Utility, or Authentication. If you're sending a promotional offer, classify it as Marketing — not Utility. Misclassification leads to rejection and can hurt your quality rating.
Name templates descriptively. Use names like ecommerce_flash_sale_v1 instead of template_1. This helps you manage templates at scale and makes it easier for your team to pick the right one when sending campaigns.
